SPECIALIST IN B2B TECH STORYTELLING

Hi, I'm Martin, an agency comms and marketing specialist based in Bristol.

I have almost a decade of experience working with leaders in B2B tech, mostly across the film, television and media space where clients have included an Oscar-winning VFX house and film and TV studios alongside several technology and service providers and industry bodies.

I work with those clients to create and implement strategies that help businesses achieve tangible goals instead of just tick boxes.

I have a background in video production which I use both with my clients working in the media and entertainment space and in the production of original content for my current agency. I love crafting visual stories right from content capture through to the edit suite.

Creative ideas, a love for B2B technology and my enthusiasm for what I do all come together to produce engaging marketing campaigns that don’t just tick boxes but have real business impacts.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Red Lorry Yellow Lorry

March 2021  - present

Head of media and entertainment

Overseeing and leading the team responsible for global integrated marketing campaigns for clients that use killer ideas for PR, video, social, events and digital.

As the head of practice, I’m responsible for leading the creative development of campaigns which are delivered by my team and take advantage of whatever platform is most effective. All these campaigns are designed to help clients achieve actual business goals not just generate vanity metrics.

Client and stakeholder management is key in this role, putting my great people skills to use. The fast-paced and always-changing agency environment means I often need to think and act quickly changing, and honestly, that’s where I thrive.

I’m always looking at how I can grow not only the agency’s client list, but also our offering. Finding new ways to deliver engaging and exciting campaigns for our clients, whatever the idea or platform.

Framestore

March 2019  - March 2021

Marketing Manager

Creating and running campaigns that publicise the VFX creative studio’s television, immersive and advertising departments. The role requires a lot of written communications and a mixture of press relations, digital and social media marketing and brand positioning through speaking and awards opportunities.

Key to the role has been to build out the profile of the television department as it looks to make an impact in a booming, streaming-led market and promoting the recently established immersive teams as they push into new, exciting markets like VR LBE and theme park attractions.

I work closely with client marketing and comms teams at entertainment and content distributors like Netflix, Amazon and HBO to create and execute marketing campaigns that tell the Framestore story, frequently navigating the use of the most popular IPs.

Senior Account Manager // Account Manager // Account Executive

Creating and running integrated communications campaigns for tech and service providers in film, TV, broadcast and entertainment. Predominantly through press relations and publicity at conferences and exhibitions but also adding in social media, digital and content marketing, the campaigns I designed and executed were done so to help clients achieve business goals.

The reward at RLYL was in telling stories about the content created by the biggest movie studios, content creators and broadcasters in the world and how a client’s technology enabled that before placing those stories in leading magazines and on blog and news sites.

Client management was an important part of the job and one that put my good people skills to use, building great relationships with global clients and delivering integrated marketing campaigns across multiple territories.
